Pre-Game Introductions

Hello. If you are reading this, it is likely you know either Scott Lee or Mike Ham on some level. And good for you - they are both outstanding individuals. Here are some interesting facts:

  • Mike Ham and Scott Lee recently graduated from the University of Washington with Masters in Business Administration. Both still root for their true Almae Matres (ASU & UCLA, respectively).
  • Mike Ham is always referred to as Mike Ham. Scott Lee is always referred to as Scott Lee. Except for when they are referred to as each other.
  • Scott Lee is now apparently a government consultant, Mike Ham some kind of strategic business person.
  • Scott Lee had a tent flown from DC to Seattle in preparation for this trip.
  • Mike Ham has never been camping and fears he may be eaten by a bear, or whatever it is that lives in the woods.
  • A Rolling Stones song will be played approximately once per hour while driving.
  • Pie will be consumed at every stop possible, at a rate approaching "fatal for young children and the elderly" per the U.S. Surgeon General.
  • Scott Lee does not have facebook. Or a smart phone (I know, right?). This will be the best place to keep tabs on him during the duration of this trip.
  • Mike Ham checks his email 16 times per day. You will not have a problem getting in touch with him. Until he is eaten by a bear.

The forthcoming posts you read here will fully detail their trip across the United States over the next three weeks. Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions, or interesting facts of your own on all of them. Epic.

Ham, out.

  1. I hope you actually are stopping by a White Castle. That would make for a pretty epic picture.

  7. I was going to tell you to go to Missoula, but since you are going the 84 route to yellowstone, you should have a morning pie stop at my favorite pilot truck stop in mountain home, id. I've had pie there a lot and cant vouch for the quality (good in my memory, but that may be because of fondness for the place), but can vouch for the atmosphere.

I went once annually until the truck stop burned down when I was about 15. they rebuilt it, haven't been since, would love to know how its doing! on my many cross-country road trips, I've never been back.
